2nd Grade

October 2014

In second grade, we have been learning about author/illustrator Chris Van Allsburg and reading some of his many award winning books. (Click on his name to see his website!) We have been looking for problems and solutions and setting with his books.

So far we have read:

2nd Grade Selects books for the prestigious Edward Smith Award

The 2nd graders have been learning about the Caldecott Award.  After reading many Caldecott winning books, we each chose a book from our picture book collection that didn't already have an award and that we thought had amazing illustrations.  Then, the students presented each book, and we narrowed the selections down until each class chose one book.  And the winners are:

Duck For President by Doreen Cronin

 

The Lorax by Dr. Seuss

Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson
